Celebrating Seven Years: The Joys of Being a Shopkeeper

It's a momentous occasion for us at The Simple Man – we're celebrating our 7th anniversary! As we reflect on this incredible journey, we can't help but marvel at the many aspects of running our ‘modern men’s mercantile’ that have made these past seven years so rewarding. From the people we've met to the creative freedom we've enjoyed, each day has been an adventure. Join us as we delve into the seven things we absolutely love about being shopkeepers.

1. The People We Meet:

One of the most beautiful aspects of running a unique retail store is the incredible people we've had the pleasure of meeting. Every day, we interact with a diverse group of individuals, each with their own unique stories, tastes, and preferences. From the loyal regulars who brighten our days to the new faces who wander in, our customers have become a part of our extended family. The relationships we've built with our patrons over the years are truly priceless.

2. The Connections to Other Small Business Owners:
Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, and we are proud to be a part of this network. The camaraderie and support we've received from fellow small business owners have been invaluable. Whether it's collaborating on promotions, sharing resources, or simply exchanging stories about the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, the connections we've forged with other local businesses have enriched our journey. From Scottsdale, Arizona to Birmingham, MI, Texas to just down the street here in Omaha, I have gained mentors, colleagues and friends.

3. Choosing the Items at Market for the Store:
One of the perks of being a shopkeeper is the thrill of curating our store's inventory. We travel to markets, handpick items, and carefully select pieces that resonate with our vision and our customers' preferences. This process allows us to bring you a unique and carefully curated selection of products that you love and maybe won't find elsewhere.

4. Sharing Teddy with Everyone:

Teddy, our furry four-legged friend, is not just a pet; he's a beloved member of our store family. Teddy's presence adds warmth and charm to our shop, making it a welcoming space for both two-legged and four-legged visitors. We love seeing the smiles he brings to our customers' faces as they pet him or engage in playful banter. And he has this amazing way to set the vibe for our shop. That is why he has broken the record for “employee of the month”.

5. The Creativity That Comes with Owning a Business:

Running a men's store isn't just about selling products; it's about expressing our creativity and passion. We have the freedom to design our store's layout, curate unique displays, and even experiment with window designs. This creative aspect of our business keeps us engaged and excited every day. We pride ourselves on not being ‘typical,’ so that allows us to think outside the box.

6. Sharing Our Passions with Others:

Our store is a reflection of our interests and passions, and we love sharing them with our customers. Whether it's a love for quality craftsmanship, sustainable fashion, or timeless style, our store provides a platform to connect with like-minded individuals who share our passions. It's incredibly rewarding to see our customers and partners embrace these values.

7. The Support We've Been Given:

Last but certainly not least, we are immensely grateful for the unwavering support we've received over the years. From our families and friends to the strangers who have become friends, your encouragement, patronage, and kind words have fueled our journey. We couldn't have reached this milestone without you.

As we celebrate our 7th anniversary at The Simple Man, we look forward to many more years of serving our community and continuing this incredible journey with you, our valued customers and friends. Thank you for being a part of our story. Here's to many more years of style, camaraderie, and success!

You know, seven is often considered a lucky number. Seven years getting to know all of you – makes me one of the luckiest.

It’s simple.
