Three Notebooks Inspired by the Fight to Save the World's Rivers
Robert Macfarlane is a longtime Field Notes user. When his book Is a River Alive? was published -- recounting three epic journeys across Ecuador, India, and Canada in defense of the world's rivers -- Field Notes made it their 67th Quarterly Edition.
Artist Stanley Donwood (best known for his Radiohead cover work) hand-carved a sinuous linocut called "Meander," which became the visual heart of the pack. Two of the three covers replicate the U.S. and U.K. hardcover book editions, treated with matte, gloss, and reticulated UV varnishes. The third features Donwood's original linocut. All three are embossed and tactile in a way that's unusual for a memo book cover. Inside: 48 pages of graph paper in Cloud Forest Gray. Limited edition of 30,000 3-packs.
